What is America 250?
America 250 is the nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. This multi-year initiative celebrates the nation’s history, honors the people and places that shaped it, and encourages communities across the country to reflect on our shared past while imagining the future. From local stories to national milestones, America 250 invites every community—including ours—to take part in this once-in-a-generation celebration.
How is our county participating?
In celebration of America 250, our county is coming together to honor our shared heritage in meaningful and engaging ways. Communities across Geauga County are planning special events, historic tours, and educational programs that showcase the people, places, and milestones that shaped our story. We’ve also launched dedicated social media efforts to spotlight local history—highlighting landmarks, notable moments, and community traditions—so residents and visitors alike can connect with our past throughout the entire commemorative year.
